Hello
My name is Jørgen K H Knudsen. I was born in 1944, and I have a Ph.D. in Chemical engineering. Professionally I have
always been working with process control and automation mostly in the Cement
Industry. Recently I retired, leaving me time for a project like Beautiful Denmark.
Since my childhood I have been a enthusiastic photographer, and since autumn 2003 I have switched to digital
photography.
My first digital camera was a Sony DSC V1 with 2592 x 1944 (5 Megapixel) resolution. A nice compact camera with could be brought along everywhere. Pictures taken with the compact Sony are named like DSC03006.jpg. In spite of the compact size
there is nothing like a real SLR for taking pictures, so the Sony has more or less been retired.
Most pictures in this gallery, those named like L1050398.jpg, has been take with a Leica Digilux 3
(a revamped Panasonic DMC L1). Although they never became commercial successes for Leica or Panasonic,
its a very nice cameras with extremely god lenses. The camera's week points are rather dark viewer and slow
automatic focusing. The resolution on 3136 x 2352 (7 Megapixel) is a bit low by today's standards.
Since 2007 I had great pleasure of submitting pictures to Google Earth/Panoramio, but I feel that the Panoramio server
has been running rather unstable for a very long period, and Google has been plastered with too many blue spots.
Popular places literally disappears under blue spots. Another good gallery functionality is offered by Facebook,
but Facebook claim copy right to all material uploaded to the site! I therefore chosed to make my own site.
During my professional life I programmed computer systems for controlling Cement plants and laboratories. I therefore wanted to
learn Microsoft's vision of developing web sites. This site has been programmed from scratch using ASP.NET,
C#, XHTML and CSS.
